Rock Master Festival

Der große internationale Kletterevent für Kinder und Jugendliche Under 14 mit Wettkämpfen und vielen Gelegenheiten, im Climbing Stadium in Arco (Ortsteil Prabi) zusammen zu spielen.

Auf dem Programm der zweitägigen Veranstaltung stehen verschiedene Wettbewerbe für Mitglieder der nationalen Teams, für alle jungen Kletterfans, die an den Kletterwänden ihr Können zeigen möchten, und für Familien.

ROCK JUNIOR UNDER 14 CUP
Young athletes competing for their national teams will battle it out in the Under 14 Cup, a competition which combines Boulder, Speed and Lead. The competitions take place on the Rock Master Climbing Stadium which in 2011 hosted the Climbing World Championship.

KID’S ROCK
All children – aged 5 – 13 – will be able to compete and enjoy the Kid’s Rock. This series of agility eventsis ideal for all, even beginners, and offers a different way of getting to know sport climbing.

FAMILY ROCK
Children and their mothers and fathers can participate in the Family Rock relay team event.

WILD COUNTRY ROCK AWARD – LA SPORTIVA COMPETITION AWARD – CLIMBING AMBASSADOR BY AQUAFIL.
These are the three international prizes which will be awarded on Friday 27th July 2018 at Arco during the 12th edition of ARCO ROCK LEGENDS. This event aims to promote sport climbing by awarding and presenting to the public climbers who, thanks to their climbs and performances, influence the development of this sport.

MISSION ARCO ROCK LEGENDS
The aim of the event is to recognise and publicise the best sports climbing and/or bouldering achievements of the given time period, bearing in mind also the style and the message of the climber. This is a unique initiative for sports climbing put forward by Arco, one of the most advanced and important centres for sports climbing worldwide.

THE AWARDS:
WILD COUNTRY ROCK AWARD – to the climber who distinguished him/herself most on bolted sports routes and/or bouldering. Both the performance and how he/she managed to influence the style and ethics of sports climbing will be taken into account.
LA SPORTIVA COMPETITION AWARD – to the climber who distinguished him/herself in competition climbing (Lead, Boulder or Speed) during the season prior to the Award.
CLIMBING AMBASSADOR by AQUAFIL – to the climber who contributed significantly to promoting climbing worldwide.

AWARD’S CEREMONY
The Award’s Ceremony will take place at Arco on 27 August 2018 at 21.00 at the Salone delle Feste, Casinò Municipale. As every year this will be a special event with climbing, and all the finalists of the Award, top of the agenda.

From 25 – 27 August dozens of wooden huts will host the most important climbing and outdoor companies. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the latest products, to get to know athletes, share the same passion with live music, slackline exhibitions, May Pole climbing for children and zlag-board contests, after spending the day climbing at the crag or watching the competitions unfold in the Climbing Stadium.

ROCK MASTER DUEL
An exclusive competition formula ‘invented’ at Arco that for years has become the final fixture of the Festival. The 8 best athletes from the Arco Lead World Cup 2017, with two wild cards chosen by the organisers. The athletes are competing against each other on two difficult, identical and parallel routes. The athlete who climbs to the top first eliminates the other, all the way down to the final battle. After a first round of qualifications that also defines the coupling for the first batch, the athletes will face a series of direct elimination rounds, till the last one for the title.
A spectacular mix of tactics, determination, control and explosive climbing: slightly more than a minute to climb 25m of 8a. Tactics, determination, control and explosive climbing the desire to take to the wire, to the very last hold. It has become legend the head to head between Jakob Schubert and Adam Ondra form Rock Master 2016, that resulted in the latter’s victory with a rush on the great wall of the Rock Master Climbing Stadium!

KO BOULDER CONTEST
An invitational competition dedicated to the elites of bouldering. 6 athletes and 4 problems. In the preceding days the challengers will be able to test the problems, so the tracers will be able to show extreme and impressive movements. The competition is so the max, unleashed, without rope and harness and with a mattress to hold their falls.
And all of this with the exclusive K.O. formula: the athletes compete on 4 problems. Every athlete can attempt each problem three times. At the end of each batch the results are determined on the basis of the height reached and the number of attempts required. At every problem the worst performer is eliminated, while all the rest qualify for the next boulder problem. The best three therefore challenge each other on the final boulder problem.

The IFSC CLIMBING WORLD CUP is an international circuit of competitions organised by the International Federation of Sports Climbing since 1989. At the end of the seasons four trophies are awarded: Boulder, Speed, Lead and Combined. The Rock Master Festival hosts the only italian competions of the IFSC Climbing World Cup for the Speed and Lead disciplines.

Friday 25th August is dedicate to the qualifications with over 200 athletes competing for access to the finals of Saturday 26th.

IFSC LEAD CLIMBING WORLD CUP
When: 25/26 August 2017
The Lead Climbing World Cup returns to Italy for its stage during the Rock Master Festival.
Lead is the queen sport climbing discipline, the athletes tackle an extremely difficult route and the climber who climbs highest wins. Only the greatest champions reach the very top, at the end of the large overhang.

On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 August the athletes eliminate each other in order to qualify for a place in the final, during which the best 8 men and women will battle for the highest podium position by breaching the legendary Rock Master Climbing Stadium overhangs.

IFSC SPEED WORLD CUP
When: 25/26 August 2017
Modern speed climbing was born in Arco in 1988 and since then, every year the vertical sprinters challenge each other up the Climbing Stadium wall. The only factor that counts is speed: a handful of seconds to climb 15 meters to the top, flying from one handhold to the next.

On Firday 25th and Saturday 26th August the world’s fastest climbers will once again spring into action in the Speed World Cup. Will the amazing world records be beaten, set by Danyl Boldyrev in 5.60 and Iuliia Kaplina in 7.53? And will the crowd cheer to another outstanding Italian performance, like in 2012 with Gontero and in 2014 with Santoni?
