San Giorgio Hermitage (Bardolino, Verona) was founded in 1663. The building works went on along the whole XVII century and were completed in 1704 by building the church. After Napoleon’s abolition in 1810, the Hermitage was quitted and the complex was inhabited by farmers until 1885, when a Camaldolite Community came back to dwell in it.
The Monastic Community welcomes everyone to this place, dear to the religious memory of all the surroundings. Visitors are thus requested to respect the special character of such place of peace, silence and meditation. Therefore neither the Hermitage can become a tourist destination; nor, least of all, the spaces where the Community lives and works can be opened to tourist visitors.
