Pozzolengo is a natural balcony of the Morenic Amphitheatre in this peaceful land, rich in vineyards and grassfields, south of the Garda Lake. Crossroads between the province of Brescia, Mantova and Verona, Pozzolengo presents antique buildings, farmhouse restaurants in the beautiful countryside, Morenic hillside lakes and traditional flavours: wines, cold meats, meat from the historical hills and the Pozzolengo De.co Salame (denomination from the town of origin). The still inhabited fortress village, situated on the Fluno mountain, was built for protection from the Magiari and Ungari raids. Inside the castle are the remains of the frescos of the apse from the 1300 San Lorenzo church. Monuments well worth seeing include the Parish Church, dating from the XVI century, enlarged in 1783, which contains the work of Andrea Celesti, "Deposition of Jesus, with Saints". This Venetian painter, though Brescian by adoption, is the author of frescoes and canvases of religious subjects expressing a sumptuous and exuberant taste.
Activities which can be practiced at Pozzolengo also include excursions and walks. From the western part of the centre, it is possible to go on a walk of about 3 km, leading to the fifteenth century Badia di San Vigilio, formerly part of a XII century abbey. Local organised events of greatest appeal include, on 10 August, the Sagra di S. Lorenzo, with music in the central square, fireworks and various performances (theatrical, concerts).
