GARDA'S RESORTS

From north to south Lake Garda features picturesque resorts and enchanting views. Garda Trentino, at the northern end of the lake, with its resorts of Riva del Garda, Torbole and the lido of Arco, is the paradise of sailing and windsurfing, as is nearby Malcesine where the Riviera degli Olivi begins. The Riviera stretches southwards for over 50 kilometres full of inlets and shores, villages and castles to Peschiera del Garda. Continuing along the southern shoreline, where there are several spa centres, you skirt the resorts of Sirmione, Desenzano, Lonato, Padenghe and Pozzolengo, the gateway to the morainal hills where the magic of history is still palpable. The characteristic villages of the Valtenesi: Moniga and Soiano del Lago, Manerba and Polpenazze, San Felice del Benaco and Puegnago line the western shore. A combination of Mediterranean and Alpine scenery hosts the string of villages along the northern shore, from Salò, Gardone Riviera, Toscolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine, Magasa and Valvestino to Limone sul Garda, where the citrus fruit orchards and strong perfumes of this land triumph.
